While many of us are thinking about that last minute grocery shopping for Thanksgiving, in the suburb of Cary, it’s Christmas every day. A young woman is battling a horrible disease with her friends, family and a whole lot of strangers behind her.
19-year-old Haley Lichter was diagnosed with brain cancer a year and a half ago. At the time, she was already a volunteer with a cancer organization herself

Her friends and family have rallied around her through all the ups and downs.

And as the disease has progressed so has the outpouring of support from the community.

There have been t-shirt sales, donation jars, visits from her favorite sports stars and a seemingly endless supply of love and support from the people who know her best.

But she’s also received hundred of letters of encouragement from people she hasn’t ever met.

A Go Fund Me site has been set up for Haley’s family. They’ve already raised about $25,000 and are hoping to hit $30,000 by Christmas. More info about that here: http://www.gofundme.com/7fi008

The community also has a host of fundraisers planned for Haley.
