Father, son, grandsons among those charged in bizarre kidnapping and murder

GARY, Ind. —  Three generations of the same family are facing charges in a bizarre kidnapping and murder plot in northwest Indiana

A father, his son and two grandsons are part of a family neighbors say were known in Gary as trouble.

Neighbors say they heard two explosions when SWAT teams firebombed the house at 700 North Henry St early Tuesday morning.

Hobart and Merrilville detectives, the SWAT team, a police evidence recovery team and the United States Secret Service,  which handles counterfeit and financial crimes. served search warrants and arrested three generations of men.

62-year-old David Johnson III,  39-years-old David Johnson IV and 19-year-old David Johnson V are charged with murder and kidnapping.  A girlfriend of one suspect, 26-year-old Michelle Hughes, already in jail on another crime, is also charged.

Also charged but not in custody; David  IV’s 17-year-old son Aarion Greenwood, Jeri Woods, David IV’s wife and 21-year-old Kiontay Cason

The entire group is suspected of killing and kidnapping two brothers,  18-year-old Aareon Lackey and 16-year-old Antonio Lackey.  Their badly decomposed bodies were found in a wooded area in Hobart on July 17.  Their mother reported them missing 11 days earlier.

Both had been shot.

A press conference tomorrow is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Hobart Police Department where more details should be released.
