JOLIET, Ill. -- A shooting at a bar in Joliet killed one person and wounded another.

A 55-year-old man is accused of opening fire at Izzy's Bar.

Just after 1 a.m., witnesses say the suspect, who had allegedly been kicked out of the bar earlier that night, came back in carrying a shotgun, and fired a single round at 52-year-old bartender Danny Rios.

Rios was pronounced dead just before 8 a.m. Friday.

Mike Cullick was with friends at the bar at the time.  He and other patrons jumped in and tried to disarm the suspect. A second man was shot.  WGN is told that victim is the son of the bar’s owner.

Cullick jumped on top of the suspect and held him to the ground.

“We did what anyone else would have done,” he told WGN News. “I'm not going to watch that happen to anybody.”

The suspect was taken into custody.

Joliet police received a search warrant and entered the suspect's home in the 16000 block of Dearborn Street in Crest Hill which is only half a block from the bar.

They also searched his garage where neighbors say he worked on vintage cars.

Charges are pending.
