AURORA, Ill. — A 19-year-old man was killed in a tragic accident as he unloaded a railcar Thursday morning in Aurora, according to police.

Just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aurora police say officers responded to a 911 call about an employee trapped under large wood panels used in construction that fell on him as he unloaded a railcar.

Firefighters and paramedics used rescue equipment to lift the wood pile off the man, but he was declared dead on the scene, police said in a statement.

Members of the Aurora Police Department, BNSF Police Department and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) all responded to conduct their own investigation, but the Aurora Police Department said his death appears to have been a “tragic accident.”
