Anita LaFlore, the mother of 5-year-old Amaeron says his death was a result of negligence.

Amareon was at Tricia’s Playhouse and Daycare in Michigan City Indiana on Monday June 9th. His 1 and 3-year-old sisters were placed there often. But the boy was only supposed to be there for one day before starting summer camp.

While outside playing with other kids, Amareon became tangled in a rope hanging from a play set. Police say he accidentally hanged himself.

LaFlore has now filed a lawsuit alleging the two employees working that day were inside with other children and Amareon was unsupervised when he became tangled in the rope.

According to the lawsuit, Tricia’s Playhouse is on probation due to an inspection by Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.  The lawsuit claims the daycare was cited in April for failing to conduct background checks on two employees, failing to report suspected abuse and dealing with a child inappropriately.

LaFlore is also considering filing a lawsuit against the state of Indiana for failing to notify parents about the citations against the daycare.

According to the attorney for LaFlore, the police investigation is still ongoing.

WGNTV out to Tricia’s Playhouse but did not get a call back.
