CHICAGO -- A family on their way to see an action movie had a real-life action experience of their own.

A police SUV racing to answer a call crashed into their car during rush-hour on the South Side.

In Roseland Monday night, it looked like a movie set: Two banged up vehicles at 108th and South State, a lot of police and stories of a high speed crash.

The driver of the car that was hit by the CPD SUV says they came out of nowhere. Others nearby who witnessed it are backing her up.

Inside the Chevy Impala were two adults and three teenagers. All suffered bruises, one with broken ribs.

Witnesses say the officers were going the wrong way on a one-way street and speeding. No lights, no sirens.

But there was some disagreement over if those lights and sirens were on at the time of the crash. Police say yes. Witnesses told WGN no.

The driver of the car says she has hired an attorney to look into this.

The two police officers involved in the crash have minor injuries and WGN is told they will be okay.
