Extra-alarm fire at Windy City Produce, under investigation

CHICAGO, Ill. –An extra alarm fire broke out at 4 a.m. Monday on the city’s North Side at Windy City Produce located at 3340 N. Pulaski.

Firefighters arrived at the scene near Milwaukee and Pulaski and found the produce store engulfed in flames.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze in about 30 minutes, but smoke continued to billow out of the building. Extra personnel were called to help fight the 2-11 fire, which was struck by around 5:30 a.m. Monday. Firefighters remained on the scene to put out hot spots.

The owner of the store, Joe Lucchetto, said he felt “horrible” but hopes he can rebuild.

Firefighters are investigating.

Pulaski Road will remain closed for some time this morning, commuters should expect delays in this area.
