Former Country Club Hills Police Chief Regina Evans will be sentenced at 11 a.m. today in a federal courtroom in Springfield.

Evans plead guilty to charges of obstruction of justice and witness tampering in connection with a scheme to defraud the state out of a grant worth more than a million dollars.

The state gave Evans and her husband the money in 2009 for a job training program run by a non-profit group they controlled out of the Regal Theater, which the Evans owned.

But during the investigation, Evans admitted little, if any, training actually occurred.
