Evanston police are investigating the Saturday night shooting death of a local man.

30-year-old Floyd Givert was shot around 6:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Darrow Ave, just two blocks away from his home.

Just after the shooting, there was a car crash at Green Bay and McCormick, involving the vehicle driving Givert to the hospital.

Police are treating the crash as a separate incident, and don’t believe the driver was involved in the shooting.
