CHICAGO — An elderly man with dementia who went missing from his home on the far South Side earlier this month was found dead Monday.

Family members said 83-year-old George Robbins, known to some as the former owner of Robbins Barbershop on the Near North Side, disappeared from his South Chicago home on April 21. Robbins suffers from dementia and was off his medication, family members said.

Police said Robbins was found on Monday, April 30, but didn’t initially release details about his condition.

Robbins’ church held a service praying for him on Sunday, where congregants handed out flyers with his photo on it, hoping someone would recognize him.

There were no signs of foul play.

No further information was provided.
