Man wounded in shooting on I-57, police say

CHICAGO — A man was shot in the knee while driving on I-57 early Saturday, police said.

According to authorities, two people were in a car in the southbound lanes near 111th Street when someone in an adjacent car opened fire about 1 a.m. Saturday.

The driver was shot in his knee, police said. He pulled off the road into a gas station at 111th Street and Ashland Avenue. His passenger was not shot.

Illinois State Police investigators shut down southbound lanes near the shooting site to search for evidence early Saturday.

The driver was treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

No one was in custody.
