CHICAGO —  A local animal hospital is looking for help to care for a dog shot in the head by her owner during a domestic dispute.

Vets say the Chicago police who rushed the dog to Skokie’s BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital saved her life.

The 6-year-old Shepard mix, named Sophie, is weak and showing signs of neurological trauma.

Frankie`s Friends Charitable Pet Foundation is raising money for Sophie`s care, which could be about $10,000.
