The Des Plaines Oasis, which has welcomed travelers since 1959, is closing this weekend.

It’s all part of a master plan to rebuild and widen the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

The price tag is $2.5 billion.

Removing the Oasis will allow a fourth lane to be added in each direction from O’Hare Airport to Elgin.

The demolition is also needed to build the $3-billion Elgin-O’Hare western access project.

The 7-11 stores and gas stations along the sides of the structure will remain open.
