CHICAGO — A daycare was damaged after a building collapsed on the city’s South Side Tuesday afternoon.
Ms. Debbie’s Daycare was damaged after a vacant building at79th and Green streets collapsed. The daycare is now closed.
As the daycare’s children were brought outside for a snack and to play, the building next door collapsed.
City inspectors, police and fire responded and demolition has already started but it is unknown how long the daycare will be closed.
One neighbor, Barbara Robinzine, said she has asked the city to tear it down for three years, because of squatters. Her house was also damaged on Tuesday. It is unknown how long it will take to fix her house. She said she is grateful no one got hurt.
