CHICAGO -- The music, the costumes and the drama of the Christmas story “The Nutcracker” has been mesmerizing audiences for generations. In Chicago, the Joffrey Ballet has been bringing the story of Clara and her nutcracker to life for nearly 30 years. But after this holiday season the curtain on this version will close for good.

Next year, Robert Joffrey's “The Nutcracker,” gets a revamp.

After roughly 500 performances, almost a million people have seen the performance in its final year.

Those who are familiar with the inner-workings of it, say with heavy hearts, it's time.
