Crowds packed Navy Pier Thursday night for Chicago’s annual fireworks display.

The warm weather had people out early in the day at area beaches, soaking up the sun and clamoring for an ideal viewing spot.

Officials at Navy Pier said the pier reached capacity around 8 p.m.

Chicago police were on hand to manage the crowds.
