CHICAGO – Normal service is resuming on several CTA lines after a hazmat situation disrupted trains earlier this afternoon.

CTA says Red, Orange, Green and Purple Line trains are resuming their normal routing, with residual delays. “Crews working to restore normal service levels as quickly as possible,” CTA said in a statement.

Earlier crews worked to contain a  Hazmat situation in the South Loop.

Fire officials say a construction crew hit a gas main on State St between 9th and 11th.

State St was closed from 8th to Roosevelt.
