AURORA, Ill. — No one was injured after a fire broke out at a restaurant in Aurora Thursday afternoon.
The fire started at a McDonald’s in the 1000 block of North Lake Street. The restaurant had reportedly been closed for renovations.
Fire Chief Jim Rhodes said workers were doing welding near the roof and ignited a small fire in the installation. He said they attempted to put it out, but it spread too quickly. They were able to get out safely and call 911.
Traffic in the area experienced delays while first responders were on the scene. Route 31 was shutdown between Lake Street and Indian Trail and Illinois Avenue.
