CHICAGO — Students at one Chicago public high school walk out of class on Friday morning to protest against budget cuts.
About 300 kids at Lincoln Park High School skipped third period and left the building at 9:55 am. They gathered in the mall area, holding signs and shouting chants.
They called for better funding, and to be treated the same as students in affluent communities.
Their demonstration comes after CPS CEO Forrest Claypool told principals to cut budgets by up to 3.5%.
CPS’ deficit is more than one billion dollars.
