Chicago police officers boarded a bus early Thursday morning for a trip to Springfield to attend parole hearings from two inmates who killed two Chicago police officers.

Both murders happened more than 35 years ago and the names of the inmates were not released.

Both men received lengthy prison sentences.

However, officers say they will attend the parole hearings to make sure the inmates serve their full sentences without being released early on parole.
