CHICAGO — More than 10 million Americans are practicing a daily habit of meditation. And as deeper research rolls out, more are joining in.

The popularity of meditation is rising with a lot of places offering workshops.  Some companies are encouraging it at work.

Some schools are giving it a try with some pretty good results. There are critics though, that say introducing it in schools is a little too much like prayer.

Russell Simmons, the founder of DEF Jam record label has been pushing CPS to develop a program.  They are trying to raise independent funds.

With all the research on how it helps you sleep and lower stress, WGN’s Lourdes Duarte thought she would give it a try and talked with local specialists and researchers.
