Immigration and Customs Enforcement runs a specialized police unit run by Homeland Security Investigations that has become an important tool for local law enforcement.

SRT or the Special Response Team handles crimes linked to our borders.

There are only 16 teams in the country and Chicago has one of them.

Recently, the team zeroed in on a group of foreign gang members and made approximately 30 arrests of well-known Latin Kings.  In 2010, the SRT intercepted a train carrying 11 tons of marijuana.

The elite team allowed WGN to be a part of a training mission at an abandoned Downers Grove home.
