CHICAGO -- Odds are, you’re probably like millions around the world who have hopped into formation at a barbecue, family reunion or even a wedding when you heard the Cha Cha Slide!

The song’s even been featured in movies, and commercials for McDonald’s and Slim Jim.

The song was created 18 years ago and its popularity is unprecedented as it shot to the top of music charts around the world.

Chicago’s own platinum recording artist D.J. Casper, also known as Willie Perry, Jr. created the song.

He’s 51 and was recently diagnosed with two forms of cancer.

He’s now asking the city of Chicago to support him during his journey, to help him with the cost of chemo treatments and medical services.

A benefit in D.J. Casper’s honor is, set for Monday, June 20TH at 5 p.m. at:

D.A’s Deli and Dining

7260 W 159th St, Orland Park, IL

Tickets are $50 and you can purchase them at V103's website

D.J. Casper also has a GoFundMe Page, where he’s accepting donations:
