Cook County inmate recaptured after escaping custody

CHICAGO -- A detainee from the Cook County jail is back in custody after he escaped this afternoon

18 year-old Jordan Cook escaped police custody before he was supposed to board a bus back to the Cook County Jail.

From 51st and Wentworth, Cook ran up the street and into a shopping complex home to a dialysis center, Alderman Pat Dowell's office and a nail salon.

During the course of trying to apprehend cook, two shots were fired, but no one was hurt.

Cook is now back at the Cook County jail.

Cook was originally in custody on gun possession charges and reckless discharge of a weapon.
