Congressman Bobby Rush promotes a bill that would provide funds to establish more trauma centers on Chicago’s South Side.

Rush introduced a measure to help bring trauma facilities to areas– he calls– “trauma deserts”. It would provide one-hundred million dollars to hospitals so they can open trauma centers– pointing to trinity hospital on 95th street as an example.

Saturday, supporters used the may shooting death of Columbia college student Kevin Ambrose at the 47th Street green line station as an example. Stroger was the closest trauma center. Ambrose died while on his way there.
