CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs are just a few wins away from their first postseason since 2008.

After winning Tuesday night, the team’s magic number is 3.

But once they get to the playoffs, the Cubs still face the Curse of the Billy Goat.

That’s the legendary hex that’s been on the team since 1945, when the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern and his pet goat were kicked out of Wrigley Field during the World Series.

The owner cursed the team that it would never win a title there.

That’s held up ever since.

But if that changes in 2015, Cubs fans can thank a group of competitive eaters.

Former Nathan’s hot dog eating champion Takeru Kobayashi, Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, Tim Brown, Kevin “L.A. Beast” Strahle and Bob “Notorious B.O.B.” teamed up to devour a 40 pound goat.

They tore into the goat, with their bare hands at Bertoletti and Brown’s restaurant.

The goat was gone in minutes, but we’ll see if the curse remains.
