Coast Guard rescues 11 people from sinking boat

CHICAGO — The Coast Guard rescued multiple people from a sinking boat on Lake Michigan.

Eleven people were on a boat near Jackson Park Harbor around 1 a.m. Friday night when their boat began taking in water.

They were brought back to the Coast Guard station at Calumet Harbor where paramedics checked them out.

No one was injured and all the boaters were wearing life vests.

The Coast Guard said it’s crucial for people to wear life jacket because mishaps can happen at any moment.
