Boy, 7, dies after struck by vehicle on way to school

A 7-year-old boy on the way to school Wednesday was struck and killed by a car in Chicago Heights .

Chicago Heights Police Dept and the fire department responded to a call at 16th Place and Chicago Rd early Wednesday.

7-year-old Jackson Hill was taken to St James Hospital but died later from his injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation and no arrests have been made according to police.

The child was a student in School District 170.  The district posted a statement on their website today saying, in part,  “Today, the District 170 family experienced a tragedy.  One of our students was involved in an accident on the way to school that claimed the student’s life.  It is never easy to experience the loss of a human life, but it is especially difficult to cope with the loss of a child.  The Board of Education and Superintendent ask for you to keep the student and the student’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
