WOODSTOCK, Ill. — A child is in critical condition after being struck by Pace bus in a Woodstock, Ill., Wal-Mart parking lot.
About 3:30 p.m. the Woodstock Fire department was called to a Wal-Mart at 1275 Lake Avenue in Woodstock where they they found a Pace bus had struck a child.
The child was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., in critical condition, according to Woodstock Fire Department captain Brendan Parker.
Fire officials did not confirm the age or gender of the child.
The Pace vehicle involved in the accident was driven by a contractor through the county for the Dial-a-Ride program, according to Pace spokesman Patrick Wilmot.
The driver did submit to a drug and alcohol test, which is standard operating procedure, Wilmot said.
Woodstock police are investigating.
