Woman shot, bullets pierce University of Illinois health clinic windows on Near West Side

CHICAGO — A woman is OK after being shot in the chest in the city’s Near West Side.

Remnants of the shooting were visible as bullets pierced the front windows of a Health Care Clinic run by the University of Illinois.

According to police, it happened on Maxwell Street, near Halsted Street. Authorities said the woman drove herself to the hospital, where she has already been treated and released.

Police are investigating.

No additional injuries were reported.
