CHICAGO — A reward is being offered in the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old woman on the city’s West Side.

The medical examiner has identified the woman as Tracey Allen Showers.

The shooting happened around 10:56 p.m. Tuesday in the 5500 block of West Lemoyne. Police said Showers was exiting her vehicle in front of her home, when shots were fired.

A family member, who was also exiting the vehicle, observed that she had been shot in the face and called authorities.

Showers was transported to Loyola Hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

No one is in custody. Area Five Detectives are investigating.

The church she was a member of, Greater St. John Bible Church, is offering $5,000 for any information that may lead to an arrest in her murder, which is then being doubled to $10,000 by The Leaders Network, a group of West Side churches.

“Tracey’s demise represents all of our families! This could have happened to any one of our women. I am so angry right now, because I know Tracey’s heart! She had a heart of gold and was such a lady! She was always willing to help and serve in any capacity! Lord have mercy,” Rev. Ira Acree said.

The church has scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. Wednesday to provide further details.

Showers leaves behind three children and a husband.
