CHICAGO  — A witness foiled an abduction attempt in the West Loop Wednesday morning, according to police.

Just before 7:30 a.m., in the 200 block of South Sangamon Street, a 30-year-old woman was on the sidewalk when a vehicle approached. Police said someone exited the car, grabbed the woman’s shoulder and attempted to lure her toward the vehicle with three other men inside.

The community group in the area said a person walking their dog saw what was happening, confronted the man and sprayed him with pepper spray. The suspect got back into the car and took off. The woman doesn’t appear to have been physically hurt.

No additional details were released.
