GURNEE, Ill. — A 26-year-old man was killed in a shooting near the Gurnee Mills mall in the 6100 block of West Grand Avenue in Gurnee, according to Gurnee police.

Officials said the man, a 26-year-old Zion resident, was shot and sustained critical injuries in the 6100 block of West Grand at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Saturday.

After the man was shot in a parking lot, a Good Samaritan provided first-aid until police officers and paramedics arrived at the scene.

The man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

The potential suspect or suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.
