CHICAGO — A Chicago Police Department officer was injured in an incident Friday evening near Museum Campus, according to the fire department.

A CPD spokesperson said charges are pending against two men following the incident.

The incident was reported around 8:30 p.m. near DuSable Lake Shore Drive and East Roosevelt Road.

Police reported that they stopped the vehicle in the 1100 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive near the museum campus when they identified it as a car matching the description of a vehicle wanted in connection to a case involving battery against an officer earlier this month.

Police say the officer was walking towards the car when the driver put the car in reverse and allegedly hit the officer.

CPD reported that police fired shots but did not hit anyone. The car continued going south and eventually stopped in 72nd and South Vincennes in Grand Crossing and two men exited the car and ran.

The Chicago Fire Department said the officer suffered a broken leg and is currently in good condition.

Officers took two men into custody and retrieved a weapon.

Police say the officers involved in the incident are on administrative duty for 30 days while COPA investigates. Charges are currently pending for the two men in custody.
