Authorities said the shooting occurred around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 6600 block of N. Clark Street, in front of Esperanca Sports Bar when three men were standing on a sidewalk and someone opened fire.

A 29-year-old man arrived in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, where he was later pronounced dead.

A 48-year-old male arrived in fair condition at St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound to the face.

A 43-year-old male arrived in fair condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

In a separate shooting and just over an hour later, a 48-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk on the 1600 block of West Howard around 10:08 p.m. when another man approached him on foot and fired shots.

Police said the victim was shot in the left foot and was transported to St. Francis Hospital in fair condition. No one is in custody in this shooting and police are investigating.

Ald. Maria Hadden (49th Ward) issued a public alert, telling residents that the shooting death Wednesday night was the seventh homicide in her ward this year.

She says the city will follow up with a business investigation at Esperanca Sports Bar to determine if they had any involvement.
