CHICAGO — Malik Bryant, 13, wrote a letter to Santa that made it all the way to the White House.

For Christmas, he wrote Santa, “All I ask for is for safety. I just wanna be safe.”

That letter was forwarded over to the White House, and it received a response from the President.

President Obama wrote back “each day I strive to ensure communities like yours are safe places to dream, discover and grow.. I will be rooting for you.

First Lady Michelle Obama is going a step further.

She’s inviting Bryant to be her guest at the State of the Union Tuesday night.

Guests are usually mentioned by name in the President’s speech.

Bryant is a student at Fulton Elementary School in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
