The sidewalks need shoveling, the roads need salting. A historic snowfall has ushered in the New Year for Chicagoans.
Salt was used early and is still being used often around the city today.
Streets and sanitation has it’s full fleet of over 275 plows and salt spreaders on the roads.
Still drivers say it takes a little more time and a lot of patience to get where they are going.
And it’s not over yet for some.
A lake-effect snow warning will be in effect for Lake and Cook counties in northeast Illinois until 3pm Thursday as bands of lake-effect snow move through the warning area bringing additional heavy snow in addition to the snow that has already fallen.
