Chicago Pride Parade draws an estimated 1 million people

CHICAGO – The city says there were no major incidents at Sunday’s Pride Parade.

An estimated one million people attended the parade.

Chicago Police, Illinois State Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies and the FBI monitored the event.

There was an increase in Chicago police officers, visible canine units, SWAT teams and rooftop surveillance.

PRIDE Chicago also increased private security staff from 90 to 160.

Chicago Police made seven arrests during the parades:

  • One arrest for marijuana
  • One arrest for unlawful use of a weapon
  • One arrest for littering
  • One for battery
  • Three for a fight at the Belmont Red Line station

The Chicago Fire Department recorded 35 transports.
