CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer was struck by a car on the city’s Near North Side

Police said the officer was hit by a Toyota Camry while he was getting out of his squad car on the 0-100 block of East Erie Street around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition with an injury to his leg.

The female driver of the Toyota was taken into custody. Police said the crash appeared to be alcohol-related.
