Don’t toss your tree, wait to recycle it

Chicago’s tree recycling program starts January 8.

Trees collected during the recycling events are turned into mulch, which is much more environmentally friendly than sending them to landfills.

The mulch is used to help plants and soil at local parks and forests.

When it is time to recycle your tree, make sure all ornaments, tinsel and lights are removed.
