1 killed, 1 critically hurt, 10 displaced after apartment fire in East Chatham

CHICAGO  —  Chicago Fire Department says an elderly man was killed in an apartment fire Wednesday in the city’s East Chatham neighborhood.

First responders say another person was critically injured in the blaze. Ten people were displaced.

Chicago fire responded to the area of E. 80th St. and S. Maryland Ave. Crews returning from an ambulance assist a block away saw smoke. Upon driving to the location, firefighters saw flames.

Inside, a man believed to be in his 60s was found dead.
