CHICAGO — Some people in the Chicago area woke up to nearly 18 inches of snow in some parts of the area. The winter weather also caused dangerous road conditions.

Lake-effect snow slammed the Midway Airport area with 17.7 inches as of Tuesday morning. About 7.5 inches were reported at O’Hare Airport.

About 3-5 inches of snow is still possible near the lakefront Tuesday.

Chicago Public Schools canceled in-person learning Tuesday due to the storm.
