Chicago fire lieutenant charged with attempted murder after domestic dispute

CHICAGO — A Chicago Fire lieutenant has been removed from duty following charges of attempted murder.

Joseph Ramirez, 55, is also charged with one felony count of aggravated battery and the use of a deadly weapon after a domestic dispute.

WGN has learned Ramirez is being held without bail. He appeared in court Tuesday.

The city’s fire department said in a statement that officials are cooperating with the investigation.
