1 dead, 3 injured after West Side shooting, police say

CHICAGO — One person was killed and three others were injured after a shooting on the city’s West Side, according to officials.

The Chicago Police Department said a woman was killed and three other people were injured after a shooting on the 3000 block of West Roosevelt Road around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near a liquor store.

Police said a gray colored vehicle pulled up in front of the liquor store and two people exited the car. Both of them opened fired and struck the four people who were in front of the store.

A 21-year-old woman was shot in the head and abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 29-year-old man was also shot and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. A 22-year-old man was shot in the back and neck and was transported to the same hospital in critical condition. A 29-year-old man was shot in the right leg and also transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said the incident appeared to be targeted.

The shooting is under investigation. No further information was provided.
