2 firefighters injured while battling Far South Side blaze

CHICAGO – Two firefighters are expected to be OK after being injured while battling a blaze in the Far South Side.

According to fire officials, crews were called to the 8600 block of Phillips Avenue near Calumet Heights for a two-unit building fire Monday night. One firefighter was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other injured firefighter is in good condition, officials said.

No other injuries were reported.
