CHICAGO — A Chicago chef has donated half of his winnings from a Food Network competition to help feed the hungry in West Humboldt Park.
Quentin Love owns and operates Turkey Chop Gourmet Grill on the West Side. Every Monday afternoon, the restaurant transforms into a community soup kitchen. In partnership with the Chicago Food Depository, Love and his staff been able to feed some 50,000 residents over the past two years.
Earlier this week, Love won $36,000 competing on the Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games Veterans Holiday Showdown.”
Half of that is going to support the restaurant’s soup kitchen program. He’s donating the other half to the United Service Organization, which helps military service members and their families.
Love served in Operation Desert Storm.
