Some cabs in Chicago are striking today to send a message to Mayor Emanuel and the city of Chicago.

They want the mayor to change is his current proposal that allows rideshare companies to pick up passengers at airports.

Cab drivers say the city is favoring the rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft and this new proposal would finish them.

The city said it is prepared for today’s strike with additional personnel on hand at both airports to help guide passengers to public transportation if needed..

It’s  also calling the work stoppage irresponsible saying it reinforces why residents deserve more options.

The union that announced the cab strike today says the strike is going well and there has been a slowdown in service.

But at O’Hare, there appeared to be no shortage of cabs.

The strike lasts through Friday morning.
