CHICAGO -- The forecast this weekend is snow, and residents across the area are bracing themselves.

This will be the second weekend in a row that the region will get shovelable snow, but this is expected to be the first big snow of the season.

Customers arrived for the opening of hardware and home supply stores like Home Depot this morning, hoping to get the supplies they need before they sell out.  Salt and shovels are expected to be the big sellers for today.

Drivers want to make sure they're ready for the road, stocking up on deicer, windshield wiper fluid, spare batteries and snow brushes.

CTA buses and trains are ready to go.  The City of Chicago is reminding drivers to watch where you park.  Overnight parking bans are in effect from 3:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m. along snow routes.

Also in Chicago, there's that increased fine for those who don't clear their sidewalks.  It can go as high as $500 a day.

While the snow is expected to be light and fluffy today, there's more coming tomorrow.  That snow is expected to be wetter and heavier.
