CHICAGO — Chicago lives up to “the Second City” nickname, when it comes to pricey weddings.
A new survey says Chicago is the second most expensive city to get married.
That’s according to the wedding website, The Knot, based on responses from 17,773 U.S. brides and grooms who got married in 2015.
The average price for a Chicago wedding is over $61,000. That’s about double the national average, which went up 4.5 percent from 2014, excluding the honeymoon.
The city advanced in the rankings from the fifth spot to second place in this year’s wedding trend report.
The biggest expenses include the reception venue, the band, and the engagement ring.
Manhattan has the the most expensive weddings. Over there, they average over $82,000.
The cheapest weddings are in Alaska, where they cost an average of over $17,000.
