Chicago activist Phillip Jackson dies

CHICAGO – Phillip Jackson, the prominent Chicago activist, known for his work in the city’s neighborhoods, died Sunday.

Jackson founded the Black Star Project and was a former CEO of the Chicago Housing Authority.

His organization was best known for its “Million Father March,” which encouraged fathers to take their kids to the first day of school.

Jackson had been fighting cancer.  He was 68 years old.
